(LMIA) approval

As of June 18, 2019, employers offering a job to a caregiver no longer require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) approval. Foreign caregiver permanent residence application can be submitted and if eligible will be issued a work permit. The employer must provide the caregiver with a formal job offer. Caregivers must meet minimum requirements to apply.

However, employers who would like to bring a foreign caregiver to Canada must meet the following requirements:

    Provide a full-time job offer to a Home Child Care Provider, or
  • null
    Provide a full-time job offer to a Home Support Worker.

Requirements

The caregiver selected for the position must meet the following requirements:

    Must have relevant work experience and can provide proof.
  • null
    Must have at least a 1-year education credential equivalent to a 1-year credential in Canada.
  • null
    In addition, must take an English test and achieve at least the minimum score required.
